Hi guys all right? Anyone else missing Italy lol! Our special is over, but what’s not lacking here on the blog are posts about this favorite destination in the world for weddings. And since I can’t stay still, today I want to share with you an experience that I was really looking forward to: getting to know Egypt! That’s why I prepared this post with an itinerary of tours to do during your destination wedding in Egypt . In this first one, with a photo in the city of Cairo, which was my first stop .
I arrived in Cairo with great expectations to experience the wonders of ancient Egypt and I was not disappointed. The first stop on my itinerary was the famous Egyptian Museum , which houses one of the largest collections of artifacts from the ancient world. I was fascinated to see the mummies of the pharaohs and their jewelry , as well as other fascinating relics. The museum is huge and I needed more time to explore all the rooms, but I managed to see the main attractions and was amazed by the cultural richness that the museum offers.
After the museum, I headed to the Giza pyramids , which are Egypt’s most iconic landmarks. I was completely fascinated by the grandeur of the pyramids and sphinx, and I was thrilled to think of all the work that went into building them. I even had the opportunity to go inside one of the pyramids, which was a unique and exciting experience. The Pyramids of Giza are one of Egypt’s most iconic monuments. They were built during the Old Kingdom period, around 2500 BC, and are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. They are made up of three large pyramids, including the Great Pyramid of Cheops, the Pyramid of Chephren, and the Pyramid of Menkaure.
Another activity that I couldn’t miss on my trip to Cairo was a boat trip on the Nile River . The view from the banks of the river is very nice, with the architecture of the city contrasting with the natural beauty of the river. I had dinner on board, but the sunset over the water is one of the most memorable moments of the trip , according to friends who were there.
The Citadel of Saladin and the Mosque of Muhammad Ali were also mandatory stops on my itinerary. The Islamic architecture of the monuments is impressive, and it is easy to imagine the importance of these places in the history of the city and the country. The panoramic view of the city from the citadel is also something to behold. The Citadel of Saladin is a fortification complex built during the medieval period, in the 12th century . It is made up of several mosques and museums, including the Military Museum and the National Police Museum. The Muhammad Ali Mosque is one of the most important mosques in Cairo. It is famous for its Ottoman architecture, which includes a large dome and minaret.
Finally, I visited the ruins of Capital Memphis and Saqqara, which date back thousands of years. It’s amazing to imagine how these ancient cities were so important in their time and how their legacy is still felt today. The Capital Memphis is an ancient city that is located on the banks of the Nile River, about 20 km south of Cairo. It was the capital of Ancient Egypt during the Old Kingdom dynasty, being founded around 3100 BC by Pharaoh Narmer. The city was considered an administrative and religious center in ancient Egypt, being the seat of government and the royal court. In addition, Memphis was the center of Egyptian religion, where important cults and rituals were performed in honor of the gods. Nowadays, the archaeological site of Memphis is an important tourist destination in Cairo. Visitors can explore the ruins of the ancient city and admire its impressive statues and monuments, such as the colossal statue of Ramses II, which is considered one of the largest ancient statues ever discovered. In addition, it is also possible to visit the Museum of Memphis, which houses a large collection of ancient artifacts found in the city.
Saqqara is an archaeological site located about 30 km south of Cairo . The main highlight of Saqqara is the Pyramid of Djoser, which is considered the first pyramid in Egypt. Built in the 27th century BC by Pharaoh Djoser, the pyramid was around 62 meters high and was built using stone and limestone. In addition to the pyramid, the Saqqara necropolis also has many other ancient structures, including temples, tombs and mastabas (a kind of rectangular tomb).
You could see that I loved Cairo, right? It was an amazing experience that exceeded all my expectations . I am sure that couples who are going to get married or even go on a romantic tourist trip in Egypt will be enchanted by the ancient wonders of the city and the rich Egyptian culture.
See you next week with more about Egypt 😉
Kisses,
Simone.
